백악관 경제위원장 "트럼프·시진핑 회담, 매우 잘 진행됐다"
도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령과 시진핑 중국 국가주석이 1일(현지시간) 회담을 갖고 내년 1월 1일 이후 추가관세를 부과하지 않는다는데 합의했다고 중국 관영 CCTV의 영문채널인 CGTN이 2일 보도했다.
CGTN은 2일 "양쪽(미중)의 협상이 계속될 것"이라면서 이같이 보도했다. 래리 커들로 백악관 국가경제위원장도 이날 트럼트 시진핑 미중 정상간 업무 만찬 이후 무역 담판 회동이 "매우 잘 진행됐다"고 밝혔다.
세라 샌더스 백악관 대변인은 이날 아르헨티나 부에노스아이레스에서 열린 트럼프 대통령과 시진핑 주석의 업무만찬 이후 낸 성명에서 "도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 1일(현지시간) 시진핑 중국 국가주석과 앞으로 90일 동안 중국산 수입품에 추가로 관세를 부과하지 않기로 합의했다"고 밝혔다.
이에 따라 트럼프 행정부가 내년 1월1일 2000억달러 규모의 중국산 수입제품에 매기던 관세율을 10%에서 25%로 인상하려던 계획은 일단 보류됐다.
트럼프 시진핑 미중 정상은 앞으로 90일 동안 강제적인 기술 이전, 지식재산권, 비관세장벽 등 문제에 대해 협상하기로 했다. 만약 합의가 이뤄지지 않을 경우에는 10%인 관세를 25%로 인상하기로 했다.
트럼프 대통령과 시진핑 주석의 회담은 예정보다 30분 늘어난 2시간 30분 동안 진행됐다.
앞서 트럼프 행정부는 지난 7∼8월 500억 달러 상당의 중국산 수입품에 대해 25%의 관세를 부과했고, 9월에는 2천억 달러어치에 대해 10%의 관세를 부과한 바 있다. 10% 관세율은 내년 1월부터 25%로 인상한다는 게 트럼프 행정부의 방침이었다.

Xi, Trump meet in Buenos Aires
Chinese President Xi Jinping and his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, met here Saturday for the first time this year.
China and the United States, as two major countries with great influence, shoulder important responsibilities in promoting world peace and prosperity, President Xi said. He would like to exchange views on issues of common concern with Trump and jointly chart the course for China-U.S. relations in the next stage, Xi added.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 13th summit of the Group of 20 (G20).
The two leaders agreed to meet bilaterally during the G20 summit in a telephone conversation held at the invitation of Trump at the beginning of last month.
Xi said during the conversation that both he and Trump have good visions for a healthy and stable development of the China-U.S. relations as well as expanding economic and trade cooperation, and they should make efforts to realize the wishes.
